Strawberry Cobbler with Gulab jamun mix
Originally the recipe that I chanced upon is a strawberry cobbler with cream cheese. I have not added cream cheese in this recipe.
Strawberry cobbler is our family favorite when we feel like having easy desserts, totally fuss free, and few minutes less or longer in the oven will not harm it in any way. My eyes fell on this recipe and I did not think twice as I had all the ingredients. From previous experience I knew the recipe would be outstanding as I can bake a good cobbler, not that a great skill is needed.! I would call this a beginners recipe.
Am sure adding cream cheese would have made this even more tastier. Maybe next time I may try.
This is such a warm bubbly dessert filled with goodness of whatever fruit you choose to make the cobbler with.
The taste and flavors of the fruits comes through the top when the baked juicy berries oozes with juice and peeks here and there in the dish after it is completely baked.
Juicy berries are best suited to release the juices and color that is so appealing to the eye.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole strawberries cleaned and capped.
1 cup all purpose flour ( replace with Gulab jamun mix )
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or 1/4 cup melted ghee
1 cup milk
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup fresh yogurt
2 tbsp sugar to be sprinkled on top of strawberries after arranging them all over the batter.
Method:
Preheat oven to 350 F / 175 degrees.C
Take a pan and melt the butter.Pour the melted butter into the baking dish.
Take a 9x3 inch glass baking tray or any convenient baking tray you have.
In a separate bowl mix together the yogurt milk and first mix it with the dry ingredients , the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, do not stir, but pour batter directly and evenly all over over the butter in the baking dish.
Now add the strawberries arranging them in a single layer as much as possible. The strawberries should cover all over the baking dish.
Sprinkle the 2 tbsp of sugar over the strawberries.
Bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and edges are bubbling.
This is a terrific dessert that is very easy to put together , though the baking time is long.
Tastes great when served warm or with a scoop of ice cream when cooled.
