Welcome to my Kitchen!

I am Radha Natarajan, the author of Your Everyday Cook. Currently based in Chennai (Tamil Nadu).

I am a full-time mom, homemaker, and an avid blogger, armed with professional degrees in Marketing and Advertising. Besides food blogging, my time is dedicated to photography, travel tales, and gardening.

My culinary journey began by saving recipes from magazines and cookbooks. In school, I experimented with simple and delectable recipes during summer vacations. Although I cannot claim to have been passionate about cooking back then, it was more of an experiment and an exploration of new flavors.

My love for Palakkad cuisine, in particular, comes from my mother, who primarily cooked Palakkad dishes along with occasional Gujarati, popular Karnataka, and Maharashtra dishes, reflecting the places we moved to over the years.

Having lived in many cities, my blog features recipes from various states. Work kept me away from cooking for some years, but my collection of handwritten recipes continued to grow.

Quitting professional life, I settled into a better one to raise my child and rediscover my passion for cooking.

My blog was initiated by my teenage daughter who knew I would be bored after she left for University. It became a place to save my recipes and has since been a great learning experience every day

.

In terms of cooking, I enjoy preparing foods that are simple, healthy, and bring variety to the table. My culinary style reflects the times spent in different cities and my childhood memories of good food.

I love finding multiple ways to use a single recipe with little tweaks, making cooking efficient and cost-effective for busy individuals.

The blog includes a section dedicated to travelers, students in dorms, or bachelors looking to cook simple meals with fewer ingredients and in less time, using only one pot.

I plan to add more such recipes and continue focusing on this area.

Why the name Your Everyday Cook?

Because I aim to be associated with simple, everyday, no-fuss meals that are cost-effective and doable. I want my recipes to be approachable and not intimidating at first sight. While I adhere to cooking rules, I don't mind altering or manipulating a dish to create a new recipe.

Cooking is about learning to play with ingredients and flavors, not following a rigid regimen.

I refrain from tampering with original authentic cuisines and giving them new names. Each dish on my blog has been tried, tested, and cooked several times over the years before confidently posting it.

The greatest advantage of being a food blogger is the excitement to try new dishes, and my family enjoys the variety too.

My present life involves frequent travel, providing me with opportunities to try local cuisines, leading to more exciting posts!

With your support, suggestions, and critical views, I hope to turn this blog into a useful reference site for newcomers to the kitchen, where cooking is a pleasure and not a chore.
