Arisi upma mix | Homemade Arisi upma
Arisi upma or rice rava upma is another traditional tiffin dish known to us probably from our grandmothers time and before .It is nothing but a simple way of making upma with rice and some spices like cumin , cracked pepper, some dal, chillies and curry leaves, Healthy too with addition of toor dal , and very useful when a home made mix is prepared and kept ready for a delicious dinner or tiffin anytime without processing time .

Instructions
  1. First to prepare the homemade arisi upma mix , we need to wash 1 cup raw rice and 1/4 cup toor dal in water, wash , drain well immediately .
  2. drain in a colander and spread on a clean cloth to dry well , may take about 2 hours .
  3. when it is dried well , powder this in mixie to a rava consistency . set aside .
  4. prepare a roasted tempering of mustard seeds, cumin , chana dal by dry roasting as we need to add to the mix only dry ingredients to enhance shelf life . add roasted curry leaves as well ,
  5. now add 1/2 tbsp of cracked pepper, some chili flakes for added flavour and spice as the mix has no other spice ingredients , seperately dry roast the powdered arisi upma mix on a very low flame , to dispel any moisture in the prepared mix
  6. aadd all roasted tempering , curryleaves, and the pepper , chili flakes to roasted upma powder, mix well
  7. store in a airtight container , and carry in ziploc packets when travelling , will be helpful to make quick tiffin in microwave also .
