Wool bread

Trending Wool bread, ( eggless ) , simple bread that anyone can bake . This was making the rounds in youtube and several versions were available, looking really cute with soft wool threads appearance. They are supposed to look like small bundles of wool arranged in circles. Although the bread did look like that i must admit i need to do a more perfectjob . Texture wise it is spot on and you can confidently try the recipe .

Furthermore it can be prepared with some stuffing of your choice, make a savory version or a sweet version , endless possibilities . I did have the urge to stuff with the samosa filling but reisited as i didnt want them streaking out while baking .

Ingredients

1/2 cup warm milk

1 1/2 tsp instant yeast

1 tsp jaggery

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour ( 320 grams ) ,

dont add all at once, save some for kneading at the end .

1/4 cup ( full cream or fresh cream or condensed milk ( optional ) about 50 grams

1/4 cup milk for kneading dough with ,dont add all at once.

4 tbsp oil

3/4 tsp salt

bread pan size 7-8 inches recommended .

Method

mix everything in the bowl, and the dough will look little sticky but not much and just bring it together as shown in the bowl, use the spatula to bring doughto a ball .and cover and keep to rise .

  • after an hour or so the dough woyuld have doubled .

  • Take it to a work surface, dust lightly, take the dough on the counter, flatten as shown, and again smooth till a taut ballis formed, dont overknead at this stage..

  • divide into portions you need to fit into the bread tin. shape into small balss, cover and allow to rest for 10 to 15 minutes .

  • I have set aside 2 balls of doughfor later and used a small tin . as i had shaped the individual ball of more length,i could fit only 3 big balls, you can reduce the size by shortening the width and shape 5-6 such wool balls .

  • shape each ball as shown like a long oval , slice the lower half with a knife or a scraper as shown into fine strands, spread the filling on top portion, and cover and roll all the way tilll the strands of bread , make sure to roll up well but not tightly.

  • if your bread dough is smooth and perfect it will roll up well, without being sticky . the filling is of any choice, such as peanut butter, nuttela, just condensed milk and sprinkling of nuts , or only dry fruits .

  • I have used a filling of powdered organic jaggery with sprinkling of dry fruits and nuts ,with cinnamomn powder .you can also use savory filling like that of a smaos filling or pav bhaji filling too.

  • You can also skip the part of making small flowers for the centre , just stack the balls of wool bread dough alongside and leave the centre empty. keep for second proofing for about 30 minutes,

  • then brush the tops with milk , and bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 25 minutes, timings will vary according to your oven.

  • Enjoy as a milld sweet bread or a savoury bread .
