Saraswati Pooja Lunch recipes

Saraswati Puja 2023: Saraswati Puja is an auspicious day dedicated to worship Goddess Saraswati and seeking her blessings. Saraswati Puja is mainly performed in the states of South India. Goddess Saraswati is considered as the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, learning, art and music. Saraswati Puja is being observed on Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwina.

Goddess Saraswati is the consort of Lord Brahma, the Creator.

  • And it is believed, Lord Brahma to be creator or father of Vedas, and so Saraswati is referred as Vedmata, mother of Vedas.

  • In my perspective we need Mother Saraswati’s grace to read and understand the Vedas, so she is referred as Vedamata.

  • Saraswati is the Goddess of Knowledge and she resides on the tip of the tongue in every living being. Without her grace, no one can excel in Knowledge and any Art.

    • Saraswati = Saras (water body or river) + wati (female consciousness).

    • Saraswati is the River of consciousness, who is the provider of Jnana (knowledge ) wisdom, speech and learning and thus erases the darkness called Ignorance. During the evening of Mahanavami, the Goddess of wisdom, art, and literature is revered by devotees keeping their books, instruments, and tools for Puja in front of the idol of Goddess Saraswati (in the Golu/Kolu display) and this remains untouched until the next day – Vijayadasami day.
