Brinjal Gothsu
Brinjal Gothsu / Kathrikai Gothsu is a delicious simple side dish for many tiffin items like idli , dosa , Pongal . It goes with Pongal incredibly well .
Method
Boil brinjals after chopping them .
Mash and keep aside .
Roast ingredients mentioned, powder them finely. the quantity is enough for making few more times, so keep the rest in a air tight container and use as required .
Take a pan , add 1 tbsp sesame oil , splutter mustard seeds .
Add chana dal, split udad dal, cumin .
Add tamrind water about 2 cups, add turmeric powder, cury leaves, salt, asafoetida powder , allow to boil till no raw smell, add the mashed brinjal , allow to cook, then add 2 tbsp of the prepared gothsu powder, allow to boil gently.
Remove and serve .
Millet idli recipe
For Idli batter
Idli batter
1 cup udad dal
3 cups fine millet rava , easily avaailable in stores or on line .
1 cup millet poha
1 tbsp methi
Method
Wash and soak udad dal for 3 hours
Add water to millet rava and give a quick rinse with water, and keep soaked in sufficient water for the millet rava to absorb the water, at the same time dont add too much water . it is better to soak for about 6 hours .
Wash and soak methi seeds also , seperately or with udad dal .
You can sprinkle water in the millet poha and keep for about 10 minutes just before grinding .
Grind udad dal with methi seeds to a very fine paste .
Remove, grind the poha and add to udad dal batter.
Add the soaked millet rava to the udad dal batter . mixwell
Allow to ferment overnight or for 8 hours depending on your location and weather. we cannot give exact time for fermentation .
after fermentation, add salt, mix gently, grease idli plates, prepare millet rava idlis .
Serve with delicious gothsu .
