Sri Krishna considered as the one of the most powerful human incarnations of the Lord Vishnu was born around 5,200 years ago in Mathura. Also known as Janmashtami , Gokulaashtami , this is the birthday of Lord Krishna which is celebrated with pomp and religious fervor across the country .The festival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksh.

All over the country in various states , Lord Krishna temples are decorated, processions, bhajan, kirtan and satsang meetings are organised at various places to remember and celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.
